Visiting with the wild macaques on a mountain in Arayashima, I saw these friends . They groomed each other just before the picture was taken so they are friends and or family. We were advised not to get too close to the macaques, avoid eye contact with them and not feed them outside the cabin where they sold bags of treats to give them from inside the cabin. The cabin had mesh windows where you could give them the treats through the window. It was quite wonderful seeing these guys in freedom. They are fed by the monkey park attendants but otherwise live as if they were completely wild. But of course they have to stand a lot of people coming to look at them in return for food.
